files in concepts/, principles/, chains/, and root meta files, with 20
chapter attributions independently verified against sources/encheiridion_long_pg10661.txt.

Mechanical gate (Pass 0)

  • scripts/verify_quotes.py: 66/66 blockquotes verbatim, 0 failures
  • Negative controls: Carter-wording variant, meme paraphrase, "wealth" floating quote,
    distorted ch.V — all FAIL (correctly rejected). Long genuine ch.V and ch.VIII — both
    PASS. Gate confirmed operative.

  1. προαίρεσις / ἡγεμονικόν conflation — concepts/proairesis.md
    The ch. XXXVIII quote ("ruling faculty") targets τὸ ἡγεμονικόν, technically
    adjacent but distinct from προαίρεσις. Long collapses both into "will" /
    "ruling faculty" throughout the corpus, making the elision translation-driven
    rather than an invention. Fixed in Pass 2: note now explains the ἡγεμονικόν
    relationship in-line.

  • φαντασία / ἀπάθεια frontmatter Greek claimed as in-corpus: not an overclaim —
    TERMINOLOGY.md documents that frontmatter Greek is the Perseus-arbiter layer,
    explicitly separate from the Long evidence pool.
